John Toumanios, DDS has been providing dental care to the West Essex community and beyond for over 35 years. Our experienced dental team treats the entire family from routine cleanings to dental implants and everything in between.

Dr. Toumanios has been practicing dentistry in Fairfield, West Caldwell and Verona since 1988. We are a vital family practice, where we know our patients and are responsive to their needs.

Advances
In Porcelain
They finally have created porcelain that combines strength with esthetics. In the past, esthetic porcelain was brittle and susceptible to fracture. The porcelain used in our cases is guaranteed against fracture for 7 years!
Whenever possible, our impressions are digitized with a micro scan to create a virtual model. This model provides greater clarity, efficiency and accuracy to create crowns and bridges needing little adjustment. As a bonus, your virtual model is stored in the cloud for future reference.
Apex
Locator
The endodontic procedure is made simpler as an apex finder is used to find where the tip of the root is located without having to take multiple x-rays. An electrical circuit is used to determine the ideal length and thickness of the files used to clean out the canal.
Having the correct determination of the tooth length is a crucial factor for the success of root canal therapy.
Panoramic
Radiography
The Panorex x-ray allows the doctor to get an overview of all the teeth, bone structure and sinuses in one picture. There is no film involved with this x-ray as electronic sensors send the image onto the computer screen and then printed on photo paper for review.
The Dream Sensor we use is thin and is highly rated for clarity and allows us to bill dental insurances quickly through our ThriveCloud dental program.
New Patients
Welcome to our practice! We understand the apprehension most people feel when going to the dentist and know how to counter this fear. We offer a comfortable environment where all your concerns will be addressed. We listen and explain. During your comprehensive exam we will discuss all your heath issues not just your teeth and gums, because everything is related.
The Whole Family
At your first visit, Dr. T will meet with you to review your past medical and dental histories, discuss any concerns you have, and assess your personal risk factors for dental disease. Then he will conduct a thorough visual examination of your teeth and gums. X-rays and any other diagnostic procedures will then be performed.
Children
Our goal is to provide children with a fun, relaxing and educational experience when they visit the dentist. Like adults, children deserve to have things explained to them. It makes for a less scary experience. By age 4 your child should have their first dental visit. This can vary as personal development and experiences dictate. Their first dental visit should be a positive one. The visit will include instruction on good oral hygiene, fluoride treatment to help prevent cavities and a thorough orthodontic assessment. The treatment provided at each visit is age appropriate for each stage of your child’s development.

We consistently maintain stringent cleaning and sanitization standards, including the disinfection of dental chairs, clinical areas, computers, and high-touch surfaces in the patient waiting room, restroom and offices.

All clinical equipment and instruments we use are either single-use or medically sterilized and prepared for use by our trained assistants in a controlled setting.

All staff has been professionally trained and fit-tested while wearing any personal protective gear (PPE) to ensure it is properly worn and providing maximum protection for our patients.
